The Vengeance of Smaug Lord of the Rings painted 32mm scale figureThe Dwarven kingdom of Thror, delved in the Lonely mountain at the headwaters of the Celduin was famous for its fabulous wealth, so famous that rumour of it reached even to the Withered heath and the ears of Smaug the golden, a mighty Fire-dragon whose heart burned at the thought of untold treasure.

The Balrog of Moria Lord of the Rings painted 32mm scale figureHidden in the deepest roots of the mountains the Balrog remained for almost two ages of Middle-earth, until the delvings of the dwarves of Moria penetrated his caverns. The Balrog awoke and destroyed Moria, and killed or scattered it’s inhabitants. When the Fellowship passed through Moria, the Balrog was once again disturbed and became locked in a terrible struggle to the death with Gandalf the grey on the bridge of Kazad-dum.

Smaug The Dragon, Bilbo & treasures Lord of the Rings painted 32mm scale figureSmaug the golden, greatest of the Fire-Dragons with Bilbo the reluctant burglar, who crept nervously into the dragon’s lair. Smaug had become complacent considering himself invunerable. For the little Hobbit this was the greatest and most terrifying moment of his life: to talk to the Dragon, to learn his secret and to escape with his life!

Scatha the Worm Lord of the Rings painted 32mm scale figureScatha is one of the older dragons of ages gone by. Perched on a rocky mountain-top he is master of all he survays and is confident is his power and invulernability. This creature existed before the Lord of the Rings trilogy or even the Hobbit. He was feared and one of the most dangerous of the dragons from before the Third age of Middle Earth.

Lord of the Nazgul Lord of the Rings painted 32mm scale figureSauron’s mightiest lieutenant, the Lord of the Nazgul, commanded the Morgul host at the battle of the Pelennor field. He rode a reptilian fell-beast, upon which he sought out and slew king Theoden of the Mark. Theoden’s niece Eowyn, the Shield-maiden of Rohan, determined to avenge the king and challenged the wraith-lord. By a great stroke of luck, in which Merriadoc had no small part, she slew the Lord of the Nazgűl. It was a pivotal moment of the battle which ended in the victory of the free peoples.

Fire Dragon Lord of the Rings painted 32mm scale figureFire-breathing dragons were a terrible race first spawned during the First age of middle-earth. Although themselves flightless they are the ancestors of all fire-breathing worms including the great winged dragons like Smaug the golden (also available). The most famous of the flightless fire dragons in the First age was Glaurung, father of fire-dragons, who was unleashed during the wars in Beleriand. The Fire Dragon usually possess great intelligence and cunning and versed in the subtle reptilian magic.

Cold Drake Lord of the Rings painted 32mm scale figureCold-drakes are amongst the oldest breeds of Dragon in Middle-earth and like all others are extremely scarce by the end of the Third-age. The earliest of the Dragons first apeared in the dim past of the First-age and were a manifestation of Morgoth's hatred for the works of the Valar.The first of the dragons were flightless and had no fiery breath. Over the ages some evolved differently, developing the ability to breath fire as in the the case of Glaurung, whose descendents included true Fire-dragons who could both breath fire and fly, such as Scatha and Smaug (also available).
