Roi Gonzalez Entry

Roi Gonzalez MZ630 Duinhir Painting Competiton entry
Roi Gonzalez Entry 1I first gave the miniature a base coat in a very dark blue tone.
Roi Gonzalez Entry 2I gave a couple of thin layers of a clear brown tone with the airbrush, covering most of the dark blue tone, but also trying to keep the most deep shadows: this create a very accurate light and shadow scheme to work with.
Roi Gonzalez Entry 3In the back, I gave to the cape several thin coats of dull red with the airbrush.
Roi Gonzalez Entry 4I start painting the clothes of the inner part of the miniature (front of the cape, pants and sleeves) in very clear brown tones, and the wristbands in leather. The helmet is in bronze tones.
Roi Gonzalez Entry 5Now I give a bright turquoise tone to the upper sleeves and light grey to the boots.
Roi Gonzalez Entry 6I choose a warm green for the external shirt, with the stars in pure white. The belt and straps are in clear leather.
Roi Gonzalez Entry 7Now I complete some details: the sword in a blue/grey Non Metallic Metal, the bow in dull brown (with also NMM in the metal pieces) and the hands, using a neutral flesh tone. For the helmet, I gave lot of shadowing with black and dark green washes.
Roi Gonzalez Entry 8Here I painted the face with the same tones used for hands, and gave a bright white to the hair and mustache, to achieve a venerable aspect. The helmet is highlighted with a mix of bronze and silver paint, and edges outlined in white.
Roi Gonzalez Entry 9For finishing the miniature, I painted the back part of the cape in bright red, but with some mud and dirt in the lower part. The quiver is also in clear brown and leather tones.
