Painting Tips: - by Michael Bunn (miniature painter)

Michael Bunn has many years of experience painting miniatures, and creating dioramas, and he has agreed to provide a series of tutorials that covers all the basics and then moves on to advanced painting tips, which will include Oil, Enamel and Acrylic paint pros and cons. Please contact him if you have any comments on his tutorials.

DOL AMROTH PAINTING COMPETITION EXTENDED.

Mithril Miniatures was very pleased with the quality of work that collectors had put into their Paint a Pirate entries that we will start a NEW competition that deal with the most recent release, The Knights of Dol Amroth. We have extended the deadline by another forthnight by request.

The rules:

  • Submit your entry to us before midnight on the 14th of February (GMT).
  • All entries must be submitted in jpeg format, initial size no larger than 500kb each and no smaller than 50kb in size. I can resize larger images for the website so do not worry.
  • Photos should show at least 3 different miniatures from the Knights of Dol Amroth range fully painted in any medium suitable for the task. There should be at least 2 views of each miniature included, preferably showing as much detail as possible.
  • Minimal digital manipulation is allowed. E.g.: Cropping, contrast adjustment, cleaning up minor marks on the image, colour correction is allowed while digitally painting the figure or adding a digital backdrop is not allowed. NO digital text or signatures are allowed.
  • Diorama Building is allowed but excessive altering of the figures is not allowed. Base removal is allowed to fit with a scene.
  • Ask Michael the webmaster if you have any questions about the eligibility of your entry.
  • There are 3 prizes, 1st prize will be the entire next Mithril M-series release, due to be announced later this month. The vouchers will be for 50 Euro credit (2nd place) and 20 Euro credit (3rd place).
  • The winner of this competition will be asked to submit additional photos on a CD-R / DVD-R or Memory stick so we can use them for advertising Mithril miniatures so please keep master photos in a NON compressed format like bitmaps or photoshop psd files.

I would appreciate all interested customers to contact me before the new year to let me know if you plan on entering this competition.
