MC10 - Frodo and Sam
Frodo was the nephew and heir of Bilbo Baggins, inheriting from him amongst his other possessions, the terrible One ring with which his own fate and that of Middle-earth itself was to be henceforth, inextricably bound up. He bore the terrible burden from the shire to Mordor itself, conscious always of the searching eye of the Dark lord and his minions and that the destiny of, all the free peoples, depended upon the success of his quest. The Hobbits toughness, belying their small stature stood Frodo in good stead during his epic journey. Sam, another Hobbit was Frodos unswerving companion during the journey. His qualities of loyalty, bravery and faithfulness, spiced with a very practical turn of mind, made him invaluable to Frodo. His somewhat unprepossessing character made his part in the great quest appear to others less than it actually was, though in truth, Sam was as much the hero of quest as Frodo, his master. |
